Join the movement. Become a WAAW Foundation STEM Chapter Leader or member today!

The WAAW Foundation Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) outreach program was launched in 2013. This program aims to train and equip the WAAW Foundation Scholars or college volunteers to launch and organize STEM outreach chapters within their Universities. The STEM chapter leaders recruit other STEM fellows and organize outreach and mentoring programs to 3-5 neighboring public Secondary schools in their communities to promote STEM education and learning amongst secondary students especially girls.

Are you a university student in Africa who:

  • Thrives in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)?
  • Has a passion for inspiring and mentoring younger students?
  • Wants to develop strong leadership and communication skills (especially if you’re interested in leading a chapter)?

The WAAW Foundation College to Secondary STEM Outreach program empowers university students to make a real difference.

Make Your Mark in STEM Education

  • Lead a team of passionate peers and create a dynamic STEM outreach chapter at your university (Become a STEM Chapter Leader).
  • Join an existing STEM Chapter at your university and contribute your talents to ongoing outreach programs.
  • Develop valuable leadership and communication skills in either role.
  • Design and deliver engaging STEM workshops and mentoring programs to inspire secondary school students, particularly girls, to pursue STEM careers.
  • Bridge the gap between secondary school and higher education, fostering a strong pipeline for future African STEM professionals.

Benefits for you

  • Gain hands-on experience in program development, leadership, and communication, regardless of your chosen path.
  • Make a lasting impact on the lives of younger students.
  • Expand your network and connect with like-minded peers.
  • Receive ongoing support and training from the WAAW Foundation team.

How it works

  • The program focuses on reaching students in 3-5 neighboring public secondary schools.
  • We provide training and resources to equip STEM Chapter leaders to deliver effective tutoring, computer science training, and mentoring.
  • Our goal is to increase the pipeline of African girls entering STEM careers
