Kobusinge Mercy is a research-focused biotechnology student at Makerere University who treats molecular biology as a tool for public service. Deeply moved by preventable waterborne and lifestyle illnesses within her local environment, Mercy initiated a community health and hygiene project, translating complex biotechnology insights into accessible safety protocols and sanitation models for rural households. Her ultimate goal is to work as a professional biotechnologist developing low-cost, decentralized diagnostic and agricultural solutions for underserved families. As a WAAW Scholar, she is expanding her research in disease prevention, using her educational platform to build sustainable health campaigns led entirely by female student scientists.
