WAAW Foundation participated in Facebook for Education which aims at building learning communities in Nigeria. The aim is to create programs, tools and products to build diverse learning communities that brings the world closer together.
To achieve the purpose why Facebook for Education was initiated, it was divided into 3 sections, which are;
- Activate: This is section is responsible for building perception-training programs to give learners and their advocates the agency to build skills for tomorrow’s careers, some of the programs include TechStart, TechPrep, Engineerfortheweek and many others
- Collaborate: This is section is responsible in unlocking smarter collaboration to power what’s possible in and out of the classroom. Some of the tools that can be used to achieve that includes Facebook Workplace, Facebook groups and Facebook Messenger.
- Innovate: This is section is responsible for developing cutting-edge products that transform lessons into immersive experiences and give you the creation tools to push boundaries. Products like virtual reality.
We were introduced to Facebook Workplace. It is just like the normal Facebook but their platforms are totally different from each other. The Facebook workplace is basically used build your own community in a virtual world. Some of the remarkable features stated there was the availability of unit section whereby organization can use it to set a virtual class for training and can be used to monitor how many build actually took does classes.
This is a great addition to education especially STEM Education because through the various section created in Facebook for Education, student will be able to be trained, collaborate and be able to think outside the box.
