WAAW Foundation at 2014 Google RISE Global Summit


WAAW foundation was honoured to be one of the 42 organizations selected to attend the 2014 RISE (Root In Science & Engineering) global summit at Google Inc. head office, Mountain view, California from April 13-16, 2014. “Our RISE partners are change makers: they engage, educate, and excite students about computing through extracurricular outreach. With the technology industry predicted to grow at a faster rate than all other sectors, the need for this global effort has never been as apparent as it is now. We’re excited to work with an amazing group of innovators and educators in 2014!” – Google.

Our Founder, Dr. Unoma Ndili Okorafor and  Program director, Ms. Tolulope Owajoba were in attendance.


WAAW participation in the summit created opportunities to network with other like-minded organizations that focuses on STEM and CS Education all over the world especially Africa to explore possible partnerships, develop 10x thinking approaches in solving problems, brainstorm order provigil online uk ideas for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering &Mathematics) and Computer science outreach programs, improve organizational strategy, learn fundamentals for successful fundraising campaigns, exposure to Google’s tools for education such as Google+ community, Google documents, Google vaults, course builder etc.


WAAW foundation received the 2014 RISE award in partnership with ELiTE to provide computer science, mechatronics, and robotics programming for more than 5,000 girls in Sub-Saharan Africa. Working to Advance STEM Education for African women (WAAW) Foundation works to build the pipeline of African girls in STEM and CS, and engage this talent in innovation for the African continent. The Emerging Leaders in Technology and Engineering, ELiTE utilizes open source technology to increase access to STEM training across the globe through low-cost labs and experiments coupled with rigorous curricula.
