There are over 4,269,372,209 Internet Users in the world (source: https://www.internetlivestats.com/), out of which Africa has 492,762,185 Internet Users as at March 31, 2019 (source: https://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm). It is then valid to say that the internet plays a major role in the way business owners acquire, service and retain their customers in the world of today. Hence, the need to open up the Nigerian Business Owners to the new frontier in the world of Marketing which is the Digital/Social Media Marketing.
It is with this knowledge that WAAW Foundation organized a one-day Free Digital Skills for Business Owners; tagged Boost Your Business with Facebook, in collaboration with Digivate 360.
The free training session which held on the 21st of July, 2019 at WAAW Foundation Training Hall had in attendance Entrepreneurs who were ready to take their business to the next level by increasing the reach and visibility of their businesses to the abundant potential customers available to them online.
Subjects matter experts were on ground to set these Entrepreneurs in attendance on a new course that will revolutionize the way their businesses are been, and ease the whole process of doing business with an overall goal of business effort optimization while ensuring high returns.
Tunde Bakare, a Digital Marketing Strategist and Facebook Trainer, exposed the attendees to the various opportunities available to them and their businesses on various social media platform while beaming the light on Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp. He taught them how to open and effectively run a Facebook business page, and using these platforms to expose their product and services.
One of the Facilitators, Ebenezer Dare the CEO of Justnet Technologies addressed “the need to create an online presence for your business”. It an eye-opening session for the participants of the training to embrace the large percentage of online users, knowing which platforms they use often and the benefits of taking your business online.
WAAW Foundation’s Marketing/Partnership Manager, Obafemi Orunmbe emphasize the need to run a business that stands out through Branding. He mentioned that “your Brand is your promise your customers; telling them what to expect from you and also differentiates your offerings from that of your competitors.”
Participants were exposed to mobile apps that could help them create interesting and engaging contents for their businesses online.
In her closing remark, Mrs. Tolu Adeyemo, the Executive Director of WAAW Foundation encouraged the attendees to make use of the skills learned and take advantage of the growing number of Internet Users to boost their business. She also talked about other programs of the foundation and how we are contributing to the growth of the economy by helping to fulfill some of the Sustainable Development Goals.
She mentioned that more training on Digital Skills for Business Owner will be coming up, one of which is expected to hold in September 2019.
