2014 WAAW Foundation STEM Camp Application Now Open


DSC_0872WAAW (Working to Advance African Women) Foundation, in partnership with The Lagos State Ministry of Education, The Science & Technology Agency, Abuja, The African University of Science and Technology Abuja (AUST) and St. Kate’s University in St. Paul, Minnesota USA will be holding two camps this summer in Lagos state and Abuja, Nigeria. The theme of this year’s summer STEM camp is Robotics, Computing and Renewable Energy for Africa.

WAAW STEM camp is for African girls between the ages of 13 – 17 who show high aptitude and interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Computer science disciplines. Camp participants will have opportunities to explore computer science, technology, engineering & Math, participate in team building activities and form peer support networks, participate in career counseling in STEM fields etc.

The camp theme will be supported by hands on activities, lectures, tutorials, experiments and field trips, led and presented by female scientists who will serve as role models, so as to engage girls and develop their interest in STEM careers.
