Advancing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education is a critical focus for Sasol. As a STEM industry with a reputable employee population that includes engineers, scientists and IT professionals, Sasol is committed to working with WAAW foundation to implement programs that educate and inspire tomorrow’s scientists, engineers and mathematicians.
Sasol’s sponsorship will enable WAAW to host 40 secondary schools girls for a 6-day technology camp in Abuja, Nigeria from August 8-13, 2016. The camp participants will have the opportunity to explore relevant hands-on STEM activities, computer programming, mobile app development, etc. The goal of the girls’camp is to encourage secondary school girls to think of Science and Technology as tools to help them innovate to enable real problem solving in their communities and also, participate in STEM fields at an early age when career decisions are often formed.
