WAAW foundation is proud to announce the launch of its training institute in Lagos, Nigeria. The training institute aims to provide a world-class educational environment with an advanced hands-on Science, Technology and Engineering training curriculum, taught by experienced instructors.
The training institute has started offering training of secondary school students in Computer programming. From April 12-14, 2016, 27 girls and 7 STEM teachers gathered at the training institute to learn computer programming using Arduino, SCRATCH, Turtle graphics and Blockly platform.
WAAW Foundation aims to train African women leaders who contribute to STEM innovation that spurs economic growth. Dr. Unoma Okorafor, President and founder of WAAW foundation, said: “We are excited to bring this training institute to Nigeria to empower young African girls through better access to modern technology, STEM field experience and programs align with the goals of WAAW foundation.” She added that students will garner several STEM professional skills and the institute will award professional certificates to students.
The training institute will also host innovators and young entrepreneurs from Nigeria and surrounding African countries, including students at all levels of learning.
This institute is WAAW’s Nigerian office. It is located at 39/40 Osolo way, Off Muritala Mohammed Airport road, Isolo, Lagos.
