WAAW foundation invites senior secondary school girls to register for our 2016 STEM camp. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The theme for our 2016 camp is Creating Employability Skills through Internet Connection, Computer Programming and STEM Innovation to Close the Digital Gender Gap in Nigeria.

This one week Residential camp promises to be SUPER exciting, SUPER fun, very creative and innovative for 40 African girls in Abuja, Nigeria!!! Our camp is aimed at  African girls and boys between the ages of 13 and 17 years who are currently enrolled in Senior Secondary School SS1 – SS3. Girls from all African countries are encouraged to apply.

Program activities
  • Students will build circuit design and learn about robotic on the Arduino Raspberry pi
  • Students will learn basic computer science concepts and be introduced to programming using Arduino and raspberry pi platform, playing with blockly program.
  • Students will be introduced to app building for Andriod platform using MITs app builder.
  • Students will learn to program in Javascript and Python.
  • Students will participate in team building exercises.
  • All activities are very focused on hands on, integrative learning that promotes creativity, innovation and problem solving using locally available resources.
There is time for fun!

The camp schedules a number of activities that may include swimming, pizza parties, outdoor sports, dance classes, career fair, movies and karaoke. Participants experience dorm life, cafeteria food and learn what it is like to be on a college campus. There will also be an excursion!


45,000 Naira for private school students and other individuals.
Full Scholarships and reduced cost available for public school students only. **Limited
*WAAW will not provide transportation to and from the camp location. Feeding, lodging, Science & Robotics kits, books, t-shirts, backpacks, hands-on learning and mega-fun will be provided.

If selected, approval must be received from campers parents in order to attend our camps. *Note that we will accept applicants on a first come, first serve basis and on the strength of their essays.
